Tips on How to Become a Published Erotica Writer

To be naked, or not to be naked

To be naked, or not to be naked

Is there a Stephen King (well, a naked one) just bursting to break free from inside of you? XXXBlackbook is the perfect place to let your creative juices run wild. If you’ve ever wanted to publish erotica, this is a great place to start – members can read and comment on your prose, offering helpful reviews and positive feedback. Here are a few handy tips to help get you started:

What’s your fantasy? This is your chance to explore your deepest desires and let others know how creative you are (with writing and in bed!) Once you have that figured out, start delving into the plot and flush out the characters. It can’t all be about sex (although it’ll be a big part of it!) – you’ve got to give use a reason to read right to the very end.

Word up – Type your story in Word or any desktop publishing program. This way, you can make changes, spell check and save stories on your own computer. Be sure to read it over or get someone else to for clarity before posting it. Typos = turnoff! It’s hard to get turned on when you’re trying to muddle your way through misspelled words and bad grammar.

Make it last – When writing a sexy story, it’s important to use descriptive, erotic language so we feel like we’re right there in the middle of the action. Don’t worry about it going on too long – if you feel like it’s too wordy, make it into a two-parter. And when it comes to dialogue, phrases like “Do me harder” don’t want to make us jump your bones (in fact, it just makes us want to laugh, and that’s never a good thing in bed).

Make it creative – There are a lot of erotic stories out there, so to stand out, be as creative as you can. As unlikely as it sounds, sex scenes can get boring pretty quickly, especially if they are all the same. Switch things up, try different position, and add a new person, toy or situation into the mix. If you have fun writing it, we’ll have fun reading it!

Happy Endings – You’ve decided how it’s going to start, but how is it going to end (well, duh, obviously with a very happy ending!). But you have to go one step further to make your story truly stand out – add some twists and drama to the story so the ending’s conclusion is that much sweeter. Draw out the climax, and make sure the characters have the time of their lives.
